Internship Program

This internship is a great opportunity to be fully immersed in the day to day challenges a natural builder faces from the site selection, construction and the finishing touches of a home.

This registration is an interest in the program and does not guarantee acceptance. There will be an interview process to complete. Attendance at a 10 day Basic or 21 day Certification Workshop at Cob Hill Natural Building School is MANDATORY to be considered for this program.

Dates are open ended for start and finish, the program is for a minimum of 6 months.

WHAT IS EXPECTED OF YOU

* A 30 hours work week during non-workshop time and full participation during

workshops. This will be for a 6 month time period.

* A willingness to take initiative to complete tasks that need to be done, without having to

be micromanaged, but if in doubt always ask.

* Ability to follow directions and complete tasks assigned to you

* Teamwork, ability to work with others as a team player

* Unless coming from overseas you must have your own transport

* A 2 week written notice if you plan to leave earlier than agreed leave date.

WHAT YOU GET

* Extensive hands on building experience including cob, strawbale, bale/cob, palletable cob, timber frame, tree felling, wood milling, foundations, roof designs, passive solar, cob ovens, natural plasters and finishes, earthen floors, house designing, windows and doors, living roofs, composting toilets, basic plumbing and electrical, gardening and permaculture

* Bedroom in a common staff house

* Access to community kitchen and common area

* Hot showers, indoor bathroom facilities

* Laundry facilities

* Tranquility, a beautiful natural environment away from city life

* Electricity and water

* Meals during workshops

WHAT YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR

* Phone and wifi

* Food purchases

* Toiletries and personal items

* Transportation (weekly store runs can be made)
